TOO young TO DIE
River Phoenix

At the age of only 14, River Phoenix celebrated his breakthrough in Steven King's film "Stand by Me": the film became a box office hit, and River as Chris Chambers became a teen heartthrob.  After that, offer after offer followed for the exceptional talent: whether as a young Indiana Jones in one of the most successful films of its time, as the son Danny in Sidney Lumet's film Running on Empty or as a homosexual hustler in Gus van Sant's "My own private Idaho": River Pheonix played his way into the hearts of the audience and became the idol of an entire generation.

What exactly happened on the night of 30 October 1993 is still unclear. River Phoenix is supposed to play with his band at Johnny Depp's club on Sunset Boulevard. River Phoenix dies of an overdose of cocaine and heroin, a speedball, on the street that Halloween night.

Family and friends talk about one of the most talented actors of his generation. Everyone remembers River Phoenix differently, but all remember a very special and fascinating personality. It is a film about life, not about the death of someone who died too young.
