Welcome Home: Damanhur

Damanhur is a

community of around 600 people who have settled in a valley in Italy not far

from Turin. Their communal life is based on grassroots democracy, ecology and

an esoteric spirituality. They consider themselves a state with its own

constitution and its own currency. A small, fully equipped world complete with

a school, youth center, a newspaper editorial staff, and an absolute ban on

smoking so as not to spoil the purity of the earth. Outside their community

life, the Damanhurians practice quite common professions–there are lawyers and

real estate agents. The Federation of Damanhur–a new home for many life

seekers.
