The events which unfold in the Olympic Village in Munich on 5. September 1972 form a horrific scenario. Eight Palestinian terrorists gain access to the Israeli team quarters, killing two Israelis and taking nine more hostage. The German security forces are entirely unprepared for a crisis of this nature. When the terrorists prepare to leave with their hostages, after a series of tough negotiations, the German police plan to mount a rescue mission at Fürstenfeldbruck military airbase. But this is where disaster strikes.
