German Dynasties: The Counts of Oeynhausen-Sierstorpff

They bear a great name, and they live in a magnificent property. Their family produced Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands; they own land, forests and a company with a unique tradition.

The WDR documentary "The Counts of Oeynhausen-Sierstorpff" tells the impressive story of a prominent aristocratic family from North Rhine Westphalia. Right in the centre of Germany, in the Teutoburger Forest at the far north of the most populous German province, North Rhine Westphalia, Count Marcus von Oeynhausen-Sierstorpff and his wife Annabelle are the seventh generation of his family to run the Bad Driburger Natural Spring Water company and the wellness resort Gräflicher Park Hotel & Spa in Bad Driburg. This luxury spa hotel has developed over the course of 225 years and attracts a clientele from all over the world. Jette Joop, Vicky Leandros and Fritz Wepper have been regular guests at the spa for decades - along with Prince Leopold of Bavaria and Otto Graf Lambsdorff.

BROADVIEW TV has been commissioned by WDR to tell the moving story of the Oeynhausen-Sierstorpff aristocratic dynasty. Film-maker Jobst Knigge has been the first to gain a very personal insight into the world of the Oeynhausen-Sierstorpffs. In addition to exclusive interviews with members of the family, companions and prominent personalities from North Rhine Westphalia, the director has also gained access to previously unreleased private and archive film footage.
