KULTURKRIEG - KUNST ALS WAFFE shows what effect art has on war and how war influences art.
The documentary KULTURKRIEG - KUNST ALS WAFFE is about one of the most powerful instruments in the history of war: art.
Author Philipp Kohlhöfer accompanies Ukrainian artists from the concert hall to the front, from the bunker to the studio and paints an impressive picture of their struggles for their culture and the survival of the state.
Among others, he is with the painter Volodymir Bezrukyi at the front in Bachmut, with the sculptor Mikhail Reva in Odessa, with the actress Vira Lebedynska in the theater in Mariupol - while the bombs are falling and the Russian army is destroying the theater.
And he is always on the move between the front and the studio with Andriy Khlyvnyuk and Taras Topolia, two of Ukraine's best-known musicians.
In addition, Olena Zelenska, the First Lady of Ukraine, talks about cultural initiatives aimed at further strengthening the role of Ukrainian culture on the international stage.
