Semi-Finals of the 2008 International Emmy® Awards in Cologne

On June 26th, 2008, in the opulent setting of the Marienburg of Cologne, the Semi-Final Judgings for this year's International Emmy® Awards were held. Five panels of jurors, each comprised of around 10 industry experts, rated programs that have made it to the semi-finals from all over Europe, including Germany in the categories:

- Best Performance by an Actor
- Best Performance by an Actress
- TV Movie/Mini-Series
- Telenovela
- Arts Programming
- Documentary

Following the jury session, Academy Ambassador Leopold Hoesch (BROADVIEW TV), Academy Member Michael Smeaton (Smeaton Entertainment), ZDF and ZDF.enterprises invited the jury and other prominent representatives of the industry to a reception. The Semi-Final Judgings in Cologne were supported by HDI Gerling, NRW.BANK, the Landesanstalt für Medien NRW, the Filmstiftung NRW and the partner hotel InterContinental Cologne.

The final Emmy nominations had benn announced at Mipcom in October 2008 by the Academy in Cannes. The winners of the International Emmy® Awards 2008 had been handed their prestigious Emmy statuettes at the Awards Gala on November 24th, 2008, in New York in front of more than 1,200 international broadcasting, entertainment and media executives.
